2019 brought me some nice presents! My japanese friend gave me the Rose of Versailles mask as a present! And gave myself the 24 hours liquid eyeliner (brown) as a Christmas present, a little something to indulge myself, besides my last eyeliner was done.

And yesterday, my japanese friend gave me these nice presents I share here.  I know it's not related to The rose of Versailles but I was happy to get them! Christmas celebration is starting earlier! yay!

Little paint

Doujinshi or alternative story

Back to traditional art again. Back to pencils, inks and paper, just for some days until I get my anti reflective glasses! and my eyes get better. This is the storyboard or preliminar planning of a doujinshi I've working on these days.

This is a commission, this person asked for a romantic/sensual alternative story of the Versailles Rose. No shading yet, just the planning of texts, distribution of pannels and the dynamics of the plot all done with just a regular pen.Yes, I love graphic storytelling and to convey ideas through visual narrative, no matter if it's manga, american comic, or bande dessinee, all they have enriching ideas and methods...I guess graphic storytelling is easier than illustration to me, at least for now. However, I'll keep on practicing digital illustration.  What's easier for you?

Not woman, not a child

If!Lately I am painting a lot! I was watching tutorials from artists and I was nicely impressed of how they also are perfectionist... I thought it just happens to me 😅 it's good to know there are people like me in the Art environment!! Recently I am in a internet group of artists feedback and I just love it! The critics and comments with base and fundamentals are soooo helpful!!!! I always take the comments from artists who draw better than me as encouragement for improvement.

The kiss between the two main characters has been drawn by many artists. I decided for a kiss on the neck, it's subtle and sexy. What type of kiss do you prefer for your favorite characters?

Dealing with Perfectionism

Hi again! After finished the art gigs I got to work, finally I'm back! It's s pleasurable to draw my favorite Manga characters however, dealing with perfectionism is hard. There is always something that I don't like in my drawings and I redo, redo and re do it. Sometimes my drawings end up in the trash can...is this a disorder?. Most of the times is so frustrating, because even people like my artwork, to me it's not enough. My hubby told me many times 'you're your own enemy' 😅
Well, with this in my mind, I have more than 100 drawings in my berubara binder, I never posted them because of the freaking perfectionism. Hopefully this blog will help me to get rid of this! I hope so!😅 If you are reading this nonsense writing anywhere, Thank you dear reader!

Just another sketch...I should be working but I'm sketching...a warming up excuse to draw a berubara.

Those scenes!

There are movie scenes that makes us laugh, some makes us think and analyze. But there are those that makes us feel and cry. The heart breaking scene that undoubtedly made me cry...it was the death of Oscar's lover and friend Andre. I was just a child when I saw that! Since then, I was never the same little girl who liked noisy and goofy cartoons. I discovered that good artwork can shoot, strip, and tear apart your heart. Of course, it has to  be a well done work (with good base and research). Yes, Versailles Rose is a master piece of manga/anime, so simple and complex at the same time. The drawings are basic anime, the music is outstanding and the plot is unique. Since that day, the desire of telling a story graphically was seeded in my heart.

Seconds of eternity

A quick sketch before going out! As you know, animation and graphic novels always skip some 'unimportant' scenes. I like to imagine what happened in those time lapses. These are lines of the after party 'encounter'. I suppose that night, Andre wasn't sleeping at all. Probably I will color it digitally.

Notre Dame

Here again. After a very busy week, here back to my drawing table. I created this drawing before all the rush and noise of the artistic events in the past week. For a long time I had in my mind this composition of Notre Dame and the Versailles rose (yes, for me the rose isn't Marie Antoinette!😆). My idea was to make the cathedral majestic and stunning and Oscar as a simple human who can't do anything against the destiny's plans. It also  inspired me the idea of Oscar going to prince Joseph funerals. The anime scene of the last hours of prince Joseph was nice...after many years I still remember a Oscar crying in front of her window. I think the anime shows us in some episodes a Oscar with mother instincts. How disappointing!🤣(just kidding).  Well, enjoy the pic!

Passion will always be attractive to the human heart. The graphic novel "The Rose of Versailles" has both love and passion in an historical context. Is that the reason why it was very successful? Or is something else beyond the plot?.
